We’ve offered employability skills training to community members facing barriers to employment for over 40 years. Barriers to employment can really be anything that prevents people from working in long-term, sustainable employment. We see people who are just missing some confidence or work experience, to people experiencing social, behavioural or emotional barriers. We work with both participants, and local businesses to do our part in creating positive change and supporting inclusive work environments.
We make a plan with every participant that is specific to their goals and needs, plus ways to measure milestones and successes. Some participants are basically ready for the job market, and we get right to supporting them in their job search and getting their application package ready. Other times participants have never been out of the workforce, or have been out of it for a while, so getting to the job search stage can take more time.
Our community members have a diverse background and we’re here to support all our participants in developing bakery, workplace and life skills at their own pace and in an inclusive and safe environment. So remember that when you buy our products, your support your community too. We truly are more than just a bakery.
